Italy defeated England in EURO 2020 finals in penalties at England national team's home stadium 'WEMBLEY Stadium' . The game ended as a 1-1 draw after extra time . The goal scorer were Luke Shaw for England and Bonucci for Italy . Italy won the penalties by 3-2 as Gianluigi Donarumma stopped Saka's penalty . He gradually went on to become the man of the tournament.
England's lesson from the game-
1. The midfield needs to improve-
England's midfield was not clinical enough in the final match . The way Spanish midfielders gave Italy chills in the semifinal they were not even closer to them . So Southgate have been handed over a huge job ahead of upcoming World Cup .They cannot produce player like Lampard or Gerrard but they need to bring the best out of them .
2. Pickford is a must in Qatar 2022-
Pickford was nearly perfect in the final and also throughout the tournament . He gave England another chance by stopping Jorginho's penalty but that was not enough as Saka missed penalty. He is England's best goalkeeper at the time and should be prepared for Qatar 2022.
3. Foden was a missing gem-
Foden eventually missed the last part of the tournament and his need was eventually seen inside the game . The right side was unable to produce much attacks .
4. Playing defensive is not ideal for England-
England took lead in the very second minute and after that they adapted a defensive approach of play , but this didn't seem perfect to their playing XI . A defensive approach have never been successful for this side .
5. Southgate needs to continue as the manager
A lot of speculation were raised as people demanded to change Southgate after the final but as it stands he is the ideal man for the job and needs to continue regardless rising questions against him . He have done better than past coaches of England side in recent time .
